A dentil molding is a trim piece with a repeating block-like pattern used as an architectural detail. Our interior/exterior use poly dentil molding is perfect for use under a cornice or gable end, or with a crown molding, door or fireplace surround. Being made of high density polyurethane foam, this trim looks and feels much like wood but will not rot. Angled dentil trim is available in several different pitch angles to match the rake of your gable end cornice. Drawings with dimensions can be found by clicking the PDF below.
High density cast foam Polyurethane material will not rot or crack, even when highly exposed to the weather. And because it also looks and feels like wood, we feel polyurethane to be the ideal material for use in decorative dentil trim molding. The molding is offered in 92″ lengths (7′ 8″) in for efficient shipping. Longer runs can be made by butting the trim boards together and filling the seam with standard auto body filler. Dentil moldings have the added advantage of a repeating block pattern that will allow the installer to effectively hide any seam.

Describing dimensions of a dentil molding can be a little tricky. The standard “length, width, height” dimensions can be confusing. We instead use width, height, and projection to describe the rafter tail dimensions, with the “projection” being how far it projects out from the mounting surface.
Attach with a Polyurethane adhesive such as PL Premium adhesive. You can also finish nail if you prefer. Fill any nail holes or marks with a automotive body filler, sand smooth, and paint.
